Preforms are the predecessors of plastic bottles. In the production process of plastic bottles, the plastic raw material (usually polyethylene terephthalate, abbreviated as PET) must first be heated and melted to plasticize, and then the molten plastic must be injected into the preform mold.

Preform molds are special molds with the shape of a bottle inside. The injected molten plastic will cool and solidify inside the mold to form a semi-finished product called a preform. The shape of the preform is similar to the shape of the final plastic bottle, but it has not been further processed and formed.

Preforms are usually made by injection molding machines, which inject molten plastic into the preform mold, cool and solidify it, and finally open the mold to take out the finished preform.

After the preform is manufactured, the subsequent bottle molding process can be carried out. The common method is to feed the preform into a blow molding machine and blow the preform into the shape of a plastic bottle with high-pressure air. After being processed by the blow molding machine, the preform becomes the plastic bottle we use in daily life.
